The heart behind Papillon Pebbles
Created after the loss of my baby daughter at 20 days old, Papillon Pebbles began with a simple need - to have something of her to hold, to carry with me.
Butterflies became our symbol of remembrance. Pebbles became our way of keeping her close.
I wanted to help others also have something special to hold as they remember their loved ones and so Papillon Pebbles was created.

Why Papillon?
My darling baby daughter died at just 20 days old and the pain of her loss was astonishing. Whilst our tiny girl was in PICU (Paediatric Intensive Care) I showed her pictures of Blue Morpho butterflies, to show her a tiny bit of the colour and beauty in the world she hadn’t yet seen.
Papillon “pap‑ee‑yon” is French for butterfly, and butterflies are a powerful symbol of grief and bereavement.
2 months after my daughter died, I visited the Butterfly House at the National History Museum in London and a gorgeous Blue Morpho decided to stay with me a while.
Why Pebbles?
On what would have been my daughter’s first birthday, we went to the beach, as water had always helped us through the hardest days. Her big brother picked a pebble for her, and that pebble became the inspiration for every pebble I’ve created since.
Our beautiful girl didn’t live long enough to take her first steps, so her pebbles allowed us to take them for her.
